New Supporters Join Oakland Mayor, Vice Mayor, and Community and Faith Leaders in Supporting Oakland Native’s Campaign
(Oakland, CA) – Today, California State Senator Nancy Skinner and a group of progressive local organizations announced their endorsement of Oakland native and non-profit leader Loren Taylor’s campaign for City Council District 6.
“Loren Taylor has made a difference for some of the most vulnerable in our community. I know he’ll be a fierce advocate for social justice and our shared progressive values,” said Senator Skinner.
Along with Senator Skinner, Taylor’s campaign earned the first place endorsements of the Wellstone Democratic Renewal Club and Block By Block Organizing Network (BBON). The Wellstone Club is committed to building a grassroots movement for progressive change in the East Bay. And BBON works to unite progressive activists across Oakland to create one strong progressive voice for our city.
“I am honored and humbled to have the support of both Senator Skinner and these progressive organizations. I thank Senator Skinner, the Wellstone Democratic Renewal Club, and Block By Block for their strong progressive leadership on critical issues facing our community and for putting their trust in me to bring new leadership that will make a difference for District 6.”
These new endorsers join a growing list of progressive leaders and organizations supporting Loren Taylor’s campaign, including Mayor Libby Schaaf, former Mayor Jean Quan, Vice Mayor Annie Campbell Washington, Bishop Bob Jackson of Acts Full Gospel Church, Pastor J. Alfred Smith, Jr. of Allen Temple Baptist Church, Pastor Javier Ramos of Shiloh Church, and the Alameda County Building and Construction Trades Council.
